Barbecuing in winter – 5 tips

ADVENT, ADVENT, THE COAL IS ON FIRE

Our Smoker stays hot – because barbecue season is always hot! After turning game into a tender temptation on the grill in the autumn months, we now want to spread Christmas scents. But it’s not only the scents that make our heads smoke, but also the many little things you have to pay attention to when the temperatures are cold in order to have a great winter BBQ.

1. THE MAIN THING IS THAT THE COAL IS RIGHT!

For many men, the smoker is not only as important as their own body, sometimes it actually behaves similarly. As soon as temperatures drop, fuel consumption increases. This should never be underestimated and it is better to store a little more coal at home than too little. But please be dry! To keep the heat as low as possible, you should also keep the lid closed most of the time – yes, we know that this is a real challenge because you love watching the meat cook… But keep your head up, lid down: The juicy result makes everything good again!

2ND GIVES GAS! BUT PLEASE THE RIGHT ONE!

If you use a gas grill, it is important to pay attention to which gas you choose. Butane gas is very common in summer and even in the “Hamburg summer” no problem, because it liquefies just below freezing point. But as soon as the temperatures really sink into wintery spheres, you should take propane gas, which only changes its state of aggregation at minus 42 degrees.

3. LESS IS (S)T MORE!

With the Winter BBQ we would advise you, despite our passion for large pieces of meat, to choose smaller variants such as fillets, small steaks, sausages or shrimps, since your hungry guests do not have to wait too long for your food. In winter it can happen that the cold delays reaching the desired cooking level. Of course, you can also provide enough hot mulled wine so that the waiting is no longer so difficult – then even a roast on your smoker nothing stands in the way!

4. KEYWORD: HOT

When it’s cold outside, our body demands exactly the opposite: hot!
From the side dish to the dessert to the drink: Replace the cold pasta salad with a steaming baked potato during the winter BBQ, the ice cream with a grilled baked apple and the cool beer simply with a hot one!
5. THERE IS NOTHING THAT DOESN’T EXIST!
